To all with advice:
I have posted this dilemma on different coding websites in hopes of help, but I guess this is an impossible question? So, to anyone who can lend some advice I am open. I am a CPC coder for pediatrics. Our Dr. encountered a situation that is not unheard of but not terribly common. I am struggling to find a diagnosis code for this, as is our Dr. We had 2 families at different times come in to discuss a situation that happened between their 2 boys, age 6. These 2 boys had been caught by parents in a sexual encounter. This was not a forced situation, both apparently were willing participants. According to our Dr. this was a curious encounter due to research online the boys had been involved in. We have struggled for the last 3 days trying to find diagnosis code that will describe this situation. Our Dr. spent about an hour and half with the families counseling them on this situation. I welcome any advice out there. Thank you, SOO MUCH!!

I view it as anti-social behavior compared to the norms of our society. Would V71.02 work? Observation of childhood or adolescent antisocial behavior.

I agree with Ruth on this. Just talked with Holly our HCC expert and she believes there is an sexual behavior code that you could add. It would be a V code. Even though this sounds strange to us the fact is that it does happen because children are curious and do not understand boundaries or "norms".

Thank you everyone. I guess our struggle is that the suggested V codes are an Unacceptable Principal Diagnosis?

Code V71.02 has a PDx next to it, so it may be used as a primary diagnosis.
